Beginning

[edit]

Created a beginning, but needs a lot more work on cultural variation, women in history, women under colonial rule the Keita regime and women, urbanisation, the huge growth of the cooperative movement in the late 20th century and women, legal structure, etc. Non US govt refs are also very much needed! Article Expansion

[edit]

This article is underdeveloped. Some sections comprise no more than 7 sentences. Additionally, upon viewing the edit history, it is apparent there are no consistent editors for the article. Developing this article would involve expanding all the sections. I have included details of my interest in this article and sources I plan to include in its revision on my user page. Article Revision

[edit]

Hello, my name is Amra and I am a student at Rice University. As part of my Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities class, I will be doing a complete revision of this article. More information about my plans to upscale the article is provided in my sandbox. You can find the link to my sandbox in my user page under the heading, "Proposed Topics." Education Section

[edit]

I have added some information about factors that keep Malian women out of Education. Additionally, I have added statistics on gender disparities in educational institutions. I will be adding more information as I continue to edit the article. I still intend to add a subheading under Education on sexual harassment and poverty as they are significant factors that need their own focus. Is there any information in particular that people want to be included? How can I make this section more comprehensive? Amraamir9 (talk) 02:48, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Education and economic development and Employment

[edit]

I have changed the heading, Education to Education and economic development so it can comprise the topics information about education and employment. I have added the subheading, Employment, where there is information regarding Malian women's employment, the factors affecting employment security, and child labor of Malian girls. If there is any information that I am missing please let me know by responding to my talk page/editing it. Amraamir9 (talk) 02:36, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review Thoughts

[edit]

Amramir9, I found your overall contribution to the article to be really insightful, adding a lot of in-depth, relevant information that was missing. Your contributions to the marriage and healthcare sections were really impactful. I am surprised that this information was not presented in the original article. But, I'm glad that you were able to fill the gaps. Your ability to present the information in a professional while still maintaining a conversational tone with accessible language was impressive. If I had to choose some things to improve, it would be adding more information to the last two sections about successful Malian women and other progressive initiatives working to improve the female experience. This is a great place to highlight and celebrate the impact of women in Malian society. The most important thing to work on would be making sure that your contributions and the rest of the article are cohesive. This mismatch is most apparent in the added employment section. I think it would be beneficial to attempt to combine this with the "Economic access" section. However, if you think these sections should be separate, you should make sure that they are clearly saying different things. Overall, I was very impressed by your contributions! Good job!
